It’s been fun and games at Ewood Park this week with the surprise departure of Big Sam and it may work out that Allardyce could soon take charge of Rovers opponents on Saturday, West Ham.
Early signs suggest that the Blackburn job is Kean’s to lose, but there has been a few quid about for West Ham to end their miserable Premier League away drought and maybe it’s a good time to be travelling to Rovers. Avram Grant is also reported to be bang under pressure and he’s 11/10 with bet365 to still be in the Hammers hot-seat at the start of 2011.
Hot topic this week has been the decline in penalty taking from our well paid Premier League stars. The stats gurus tell me that the conversion rate is currently down to 68.9% and it was a surprise to see both Drogba and Rooney miss from twelve yards last week. It’s 6/1 that no penalties are scored this weekend, 7/1 that two or more are saved and 66/1 that two or more miss the target – incidentally five spot kicks have gone that way so far during 2010/11.
Talking of Rooney, I think that ball from the penalty on Monday night has just landed and the England man is 7/2 to finally score from open play – and 33/1 to miss again from 12 yards.
