The 27-year-old Bayern Munich schemer struggled in the 4-2 quarter-final win over Greece on Friday evening, having confirmed that he was a doubt ahead of the game in Gdansk.

“Honestly, I am worried about my ankle,” Schweinsteiger told Welt am Sonntag. “But the time has not come for me to take it easy. We hopefully have two more games, I will fight through it.

“After that, I will see to it that I finally get healthy again. I have been carrying it since February and it did not heal properly.

“I missed a few easy passes during the game (against Greece), which I never do. Overall I was happy with my performance but a player like me cannot miss these easy passes.”

Germany, who are 15/8 to win Euro 2012 and 2/1 to finish as runners-up, await the winners of England and Italy in the last four, with Mannschaft head coach Joachim Low having plenty of selection options for the game.

Low opted to switch his forward line around totally for the clash with Greece, with Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle and Miroslav Klose stepping in for Lukas Podolski, Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez.
