The Citizens chief is now planning for the trip to west London, following Wednesday night’s 2-1 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow.

His team were able to return from the Russian capital with a clean bill of health, despite his concerns about the state of the pitch at the Khimki Stadium.

The Chilean now expects to have a full complement of players at his disposal for the trip to the capital, with skipper Vincent Kompany fit again after a recent thigh strain.

The influential Belgian central defender remained in Manchester as a precautionary measure due to the reports about the poor turf in Moscow.

And Pellegrini said after success in the Russian capital: “We are now starting to think about this game with Chelsea. It is a very tough game, but we don’t have any injury problems with the squad.

“Vincent Kompany and all the other players are fit, so we are in a good shape.”

City are currently fourth in the Premier League table, just a point behind Chelsea in second and are 11/5 to win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, while they are 12/5 to secure a draw.

The game is 10/1 to end goalless, as it did last season.
