Cesare Prandelli accepts that Germany will be favourites for their Euro 2012 semi-final against Italy in Warsaw on Thursday evening.

“They have had two more days’ rest, but if we have the same approach, the same desire, I think we can compete. We’ll need everyone fit and fresh; we’re going to go for it.

Italy’s progress came at the expense of a booking for sub Christian Maggio, who is now ruled out of the Germany showdown, but Claudio Marchisio should recover from severe cramp which prevented him from taking a penalty.
