Murray handed Davydenko testAndy Murray faces Nikolay Davydenko in the first round of Wimbledon.

Britain’s number one Andy Murray will take on Nikolay Davydenko in Wimbledon’s first round.

Davydenko, a former world number three, has faced Murray on nine separate occasions and the Scot just has the edge on the Russian, with five wins over the 31-year-old to date.

Murray, who is the fourth seed, could meet Spanish star and French Open champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals, while the world number one Novak Djokovic or six-time winner Roger Federer could await the British hopeful in the final.

Murray is yet to reach the Wimbledon final, or indeed secure a Grand Slam title, but he has reached the last four in each of the last three years and can be backed at 8/1 to come out on top at SW19, although world number 47 Davydenko is certainly capable of causing Murray problems.

Djokovic, who will take on Juan Carlos Ferrero in his opener, is 13/8 to secure the Wimbledon title, while Federer can be backed at 4/1 to land an unprecedented seventh crown to his name.

Nadal, 2/1 to win Wimbledon, has been drawn against Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci in his opening fixture.

One of the stand out ties in the first round is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against 2002 winner Lleyton Hewitt, in what should be a closely fought battle.

Wimbledon favourite Andy Roddick, who has reached the final three times, faces British opposition in the shape of Jamie Baker, ranked as the world number 200, in the first round.

In the women’s draw top seed Maria Sharapova, fresh from her success at the French Open, has been drawn against Anastasia Rodionova.

Reigning champion Petra Kvitova faces world number 96 Akgul Amanmuradova, of Uzbekistan, while British 18-year-old Laura Robson, ranked 111th, faces a tricky test against Francesca Schiavone, winner of the 2010 French Open.
