Sneijder aims to go one better

Wesley Sneijder believes the current Netherlands team is good enough to go one better than two years ago and actually win Euro 2012.

A tetchy Dutch team was beaten in the final of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa by Spain, but Inter Milan star Sneijder thinks Bert van Marwijk’s side are stronger now and can go all the way in Poland and Ukraine.

“The changes Bert van Marwijk has made to our style of play since taking over have proven to be quite successful as we reached the final at the World Cup,” Sneijder told De Telegraaf.

“We are now aiming to reach at least the final at Euro 2012. We want to do even better, though, and win the European title.”

However the Dutch, 13/2 to win Euro 2012, were handed a setback in their build-up to the tournament when they suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to unheralded Bulgaria at the weekend.

The Oranje were at near full-strength for the game and need to improve if they are to progress from a group that also includes Germany, Portugal and Denmark.

Germany are 3/1 to win Euro 2012 while Portugal can be backed at 18/1 and Denmark at 80/1.
