The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea on Tuesday and manager Wenger wants his side to bounce back when they host Liverpool this weekend.

Arsenal are 13/10 to take all three points, Liverpool are priced at 23/10 to secure the win and the draw is 5/2.

The Frenchman feels defensive errors cost his side against Chelsea, who grabbed the win thanks to goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata, and wants an improved performance against the Reds.

“We will respond against Liverpool, don’t worry,” he told Arsenal Player.

He added: “It was a disappointing [result against Chelsea] because we put a lot of effort in and played at a high pace and put ourselves on the back foot. Then of course you have to take a big risk always and be a bit open on the counter-attack, and in the end we got punished.

“The first goal was a turning point because it was a corner for us and then a goal for them. Overall we have to learn from that and get back into the next game without losing our drive going forward but be a bit more composed in our final third.”

Arsenal have a two point lead at the top of the Premier League and are 9/2 to secure the title this term, with the Gunners 20/1 to win the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger says his focus is on his Arsenal team as a whole and not the potential midfield pairing of record signing Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla.

Ozil has shaken off a slight knock picked up on international duty with Germany to be ready to face Norwich City on Saturday, with Cazorla likely to be included in the matchday squad after shrugging off an ankle injury which has kept him sidelined since early September.

I’m very happy at the moment with the team that has played up until now, so I do not expect anything special.

However, Wenger is more interested in seeing his side continue their fine form of recent times, with the Gunners unbeaten in all competitions since the opening day of the new season.

“You want all of your best players to play together in a very positive way,” Wenger said.

“I’m very happy at the moment with the team that has played up until now, so I do not expect anything special.

“I believe what is important is that instead of focusing on one or two players is to focus on developing ourselves as a team, improving our team play because there is still room for improvement.

“There’s still the desire inside the team to do that.”

The injury news for Wenger is improved further with defender Bacary Sagna back in the fold after hamstring problems, giving the Arsenal boss plenty of selection dilemmas.

The Gunners, who have lost just one of their last 13 meetings with Norwich, are 3/10 to win at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and 8/1 to triumph by a 3-0 scoreline, with Ozil 13/2 to open the scoring.

However, Wenger is wary of reading too much into the opening couple of months of the campaign, with Arsenal currently top of the table with 15 points from a possible 18.

“What is important is to put that all into perspective and you know that it’s the hype around the game,” Wenger told reporters.

“It is positive because it shows the huge interest, but as well people tend to judge the moment as the definitive situation – however, it is just a photo of the situation, of the moment you talk.

“We want of course to win trophies, but that is all (still) to do. The only way we have a chance to do it is to try to focus on the way we play.”

Wenger has one fresh injury problem for the trip to the Black Country, with French defender Bacary Sagna suffering with a hamstring injury and facing around three weeks on the sidelines.

Arsenal, who are unbeaten on their last six visits to The Hawthorns, are 4/5 to win on Sunday and 2/1 to keep a clean sheet, while in-form striker Olivier Giroud is 5/1 to open the scoring.

In the first half we tried to press them a bit too high up but in the second half we let them have the ball, we waited for them to come into our half and defended quite deep so we could get them on the counter-attack, we broke with pace and quality and managed to gain a few times.”

Arsenal face Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday and are 1/1 to win the match. The Gunners are 22/1 to go on and win the Champions League outright this season.

The Gunners eased to a 3-1 win over the Potters at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and took an early lead when Aaron Ramsey managed to fire the ball into the net after Asmir Begovic could only parry Ozil’s free kick into the Welshman’s path after five minutes.

The Potters did manage to level matters thanks to a Geoff Cameron goal on 25 minutes but the hosts went ahead again 11 minutes later when Per Mertesacker headed home an Ozil corner.

Arsenal put the result beyond doubt on 72 minutes when Ozil picked out Bacary Sagna with a free kick and the Gunners defender managed to guide a looping header over Begovic and into the back of the net.

Wenger admits he was surprised to see his side score from three set pieces against Stoke, and paid tribute to the club’s record signing.

“I didn’t expect to score so many headers from free-kicks against Stoke, but the delivery is very important and the deliveries were good today,” he told Sky Sports.

“Like the team he gave a lot on Wednesday night (against Marseille), but he showed his class today and he worked hard as well.”

The Gunners beat Marseille in their opening Champions League group game and can be backed at 22/1 to land Europe’s top prize, while Chelsea are 14/1 and Manchester United are priced at 14/1.

“We have got to pick ourselves up and we need to put in better performances and win games.”

The north Londoners have made two close-season offers to tempt the controversial Uruguayan to the Emirates Stadium – the second being a club-record £40million plus £1.

Anfield officials have so resisted all bids for the 26-year-old but Wenger said he was prepared to play the waiting game.

“We are not close to signing Suarez…or anyone else,” he said.

“We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us. We are prepared to wait.”

The Gunners have already lost out on the signing of new Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and Wenger said it was important that he put quality ahead of quantity in what could prove to be a crucial recruitment drive.

The Frenchman added Arsenal will be competitive next season – regardless of whether he was successful in his efforts to strengthen the squad.

“With or without additions we can be title challengers next season,” he said.

“We try to do the job and we will try to do it well, but nothing has been concluded with anybody.”

He added: “What we want is not a name but a good player. The name is less important. What is more important is the quality of the player. At the moment I must tell you we are not close to signing anybody.”

Rodgers said during the Reds’ pre-season trip to Australia: “If Arsenal want the player, then they have to produce the value for the player.

“There was an offer a few weeks ago of £35million and two weeks later it is now £40million and a pound – I don’t think it is anywhere near the value of what he is worth.

“But it is twofold, really. A player may want to go, but then somebody has to pay the value or worth of that player.”

Rodgers also said that Suarez had reacted well to the uncertainty surrounding his future, having featured as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory at a packed MCG.

“After the bid came in Luis was okay, he said he was okay to go on the pitch and his focus was fine,” Rodgers added.

Suarez has scored 51 goals in 96 appearances for Liverpool since his £22.8million arrival from Ajax in January 2011.

The South American is 18/1 to be top goalscorer in the Premier League next season, with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero 7/1 and Manchester United ace Robin van Persie 3/1.
