Haye eyes Klitschko bout

Haye eyes Klitschko bout

David Haye has not ruled out the possibility of fighting Vitali Klitschko after beating Dereck Chisora at Upton Park on Saturday evening.

Haye knocked Chisora out in the fifth round after flooring his rival with a left-hook, right-hand combination. Chisora managed to get himself off the canvas only to be felled again by three right hooks and two lefts from Haye.

I’ve sent out a very scary message. I’ll be surprised if Vitali Klitschko wants to fight me after that.

Earlier, Chisora had controversially hit Haye with a punch after the bell had sounded in the third round.

After his victory, Haye said of a bout with WBC world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko: “I’ve sent out a very scary message. I’ll be surprised if Vitali Klitschko wants to fight me after that. He will no doubt try to fight some chump nobody has ever heard of and then retire to be a politician.”

Haye retired after suffering a big points defeat to Wladimir Klitschko last year but returned to the ring after he was involved in an ugly brawl with Chisora at a news conference in Munich five months ago.

However, after the fight on Saturday, the two men embraced and shook hands to seemingly bring an end to their feud.

Next weekend Urijah Faber takes on Renan Barao. Faber is 13/8 to win the bout and Barao 8/15.

Haye predicts quick fight

Haye predicts quick fightDavid Haye claims he is in his best ever shape to face Dereck Chisora.

David Haye has warned Dereck Chisora that he will be ‘getting knocked out quick’ in Saturday’s heavyweight grudge fight at Upton Park.

The former WBA heavyweight champion is relishing the opportunity to face his British rival in the ring this weekend as the duo have frequently traded insults since being involved in a fracas at a press conference in the aftermath of Chisora’s loss to Vitali Klitschko in Munich in February.

Dereck’s getting knocked out quick. The harder he comes the quicker he gets KO’d. My training has been good. I’m healthy, fit and fast.

And, Haye insists that he is in ‘the best ever’ shape to enjoy an early finish by seeing off Chisora with a knockout blow. Haye is 1/3 to win the fight, 13/10 by a knockout, while Chisora can be backed at 12/5 to win.

Haye said at their final press conference: “Dereck’s getting knocked out quick. The harder he comes the quicker he gets KO’d. My training has been good. I’m healthy, fit and fast.

“This training camp has been one of the first I’ve been able to do everything we planned because nothing has broken down.

“It’s a situation I’ve never been in before and I can feel the difference.

“My sparring partners have felt the difference as well. Unfortunately for Dereck he’s fighting the best ever Hayemaker.”

Chisora hit back at Haye’s claims to warn him that he will be at his ‘craziest’ ever when he steps into the ring.

He added: “Everything has gone well for me, I have no injuries and it’s going to be a great fight.”

Khan-Peterson rematch called offAmir Khan had hoped to win his titles back.

The American had tested positive for a banned steroid earlier this week, and Khan and Golden Boy Promotions have now confirmed the world title rematch has been cancelled.

Peterson had won Khan’s WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles in controversial circumstances last December and Khan, who had battled for the chance of regaining his crowns, is disappointed the bout will not now take place.

“This has upset me, because I wanted to settle the score and win the world titles back,” the Bolton-born fighter told the BBC.

“They should at least give those world titles back (to me).

“I’m upset for the fans. There were over 5,000 people who were travelling to Las Vegas, and there is going to be no fight there. It is a little bit disappointing. I feel for them. I wanted to win that fight for the fans.”

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao is 2/9 to defeat Timothy Bradley on 10th June, while his opponent can be backed at 3/1.

Haye and Chisora set for July showdown

Haye and Chisora set for July showdownDavid Haye is set to take on Dereck Chisora in an all-British heavyweight contest.

David Haye will step out of retirement in July to take on fellow British heavyweight Dereck Chisora at Upton Park.

The pair hit the headlines when they were involved in a brawl following Chisora’s points loss at the hands of Vitali Klitschko in February.

Chisora had his boxing license revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control as a result, while Haye does not hold a license with the BBBC as he retired following his loss in a heavyweight title fight against Vitali’s brother Wladimir.

However, Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren has been given the green light to stage the event with the Luxembourg Boxing Federation and the pair are now set to meet at Upton Park in London on 14th July.

Warren told The Sun: “Before anyone starts screaming, let me point out the Luxembourg boxing association was formed in 1922 – seven years before the British Board.

“They have given their approval for the bout and it will go on at Upton Park under their jurisdiction. As fully-fledged members of the European Boxing Union, that is what they are entitled to do.

“I never said Dereck shouldn’t be punished, but the board here withdrew his licence – they did not ban him so he can apply to any boxing board.”

Chisora is 15/8 to emerge victorious, while former WBA heavyweight champion Haye can be backed at 2/5 to see off Chisora.
