Vidic calls for Man Utd final League push

Nemanja Vidic insists ‘failure is not an option’ as some Man Utd fans start to fear another dramatic collapse.

Vidic calls for Man Utd final push

Man Utd are still 12-points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, despite losing to their fierce rivals at the start of the week.

Man Utd next face a difficult assignment this Sunday when they travel to Stoke City, who are now scrapping for their lives against relegation.

And with further away games against the likes of West Ham and Arsenal, and a visit of Chelsea still to come, there are still nagging doubts the Red Devils are home and dry.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s team tossed away an eight-point advantage with six games remaining last term to allow City to become kings of England.

But Vidic is adamant the crown must return to the red side of the city.

The Serbian defender insists: “We’re in a good position, but we still have a lot of tough games to play.

“You have to say, though, that we shouldn’t lose the league from this position. We don’t want to let ourselves or our fans down.

“We’re still looking strong and, at the moment, we’re on course to win the title. That’s been our main aim since the final day of last season, that’s our main focus.”

Manchester United are 1/500 to win the league crown this season, while Manchester City can be backed at 33/1 to successfully defend their crown.

Don’t forget, if the match finishes 0-0, bet365 will refund all pre-match Correct Score, Half-Time/Full-Time and Scorecast bets with our fantastic Bore Draw Money Back offer.

Man Utd v Sunderland – Football Match Tips

 Man Utd v Sunderland

KEY STAT: Sunderland have scored in their last seven league matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Manchester United put their derby disaster behind them with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Everton but the champions are still not at their best. United’s defensive problems, combined with Sunderland’s surprisingly good goalscoring record, mean that the 3-1 correct score looks appealing value.

 Bolton v Man Utd

KEY STAT: United have won 11 of their last 13 games against Bolton

EXPERT VERDICT: Bolton have somehow retained the services of superb defender Gary Cahill in the summer transfer window but even with the England international there are serious concerns with a team who have leaked six in their last two league outings. Opponents Manchester United are buzzing and the champions can kill this game early.

 Man City v Wigan

KEY STAT: Manchester City have won four of their last five to nil against Wigan

EXPERT VERDICT: Manchester City usually beat Wigan and they can do so again but the best could be to take the half-time draw before the home side make their quality count. Swansea, a possession team similar to the Latics, held out until the interval and Roberto Martinez’s side can avoid a thrashing.

RECOMMENDATION: Man City BET

 Arsenal v Swansea

KEY STAT: Swansea are the only top-flight team without a goal this season

EXPERT VERDICT: Arsenal can bounce back from the humiliation of losing 8-2 at Old Trafford by beating Swansea. Arsene Wenger was busy on the final few days of the transfer window, and while the team balance is still far from perfect, the new boys should enable the Gunners to overcome the shot-shy Swans.

 Newcastle v Arsenal

KEY STAT: Arsenal had the best away record in the Premier League last season

EXPERT VERDICT: Arsenal could not hold on to a 4-0 half-time advantage on their last visit to Tyneside and only the brave will consider them bankers for victory at Newcastle. However, at least Robin van Persie is reliable – he has scored in every away league game of 2011 – and can continue that record at St James’s Park.

 Stoke v Chelsea

KEY STAT: Chelsea had the best defensive record in the 2010-11 top-flight campaign

EXPERT VERDICT: Andre Villas-Boas may have to settle for a point when he takes charge of Chelsea for the first time. Opponents Stoke are always a difficult proposition at the Britannia – they held Chelsea and Man City as well as beating Arsenal at the venue last season – and are value for a draw.

 West Brom v Man Utd

KEY STAT: United failed to win 14 of their 19 away league matches last season

EXPERT VERDICT: There was a swagger to Manchester United’s play in the Community Shield win over Manchester City and their swift counter-attacking could be too good for West Brom. The signing of Ashley Young has added a new dimension to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, while Nani has started the campaign superbly.

 Liverpool v Sunderland

KEY STAT: Liverpool have won eight of their last ten matches against Sunderland

EXPERT VERDICT: Hopes are high that Kenny Dalglish can bring the good times back to Liverpool and they should open up with a victory over shot-shy Sunderland at Anfield. The Reds have paid a premium to secure British talent but at least there won’t be a major settling in period.

RECOMMENDATION: Liverpool BET HERE
