Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil are among five Premier League players who have been shortlisted for FIFA’s Ballon d’Or award.
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Liverpool forward Luis Suarez are also on the list as is Real Madrid’s former Tottenham star Gareth Bale.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are once again on the 23-man shortlist to win the prestigious world player of the year award, which will be unveiled on 13th January in Zurich.
Barcelona and Argentina forward Messi has won the award for the last four years, but he could be challenged by Franck Ribery this time after the Frenchman helped Bayern Munich win the Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup last season.
Messi is 7/4 to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or while Ronaldo can be backed at 9/1, Ribery at 10/11 and Bale at 40/1.
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is one of ten men that are on the shortlist for the coach of the year award along with Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Arsene Wenger.
