bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: “Both sides have been cut slightly on the back of the draw and a meeting at Wembley between the two Spanish giants now looks a real possibility.”

Man Utd Giggs urges focus on league matters

Ryan Giggs has vowed Man Utd’s upcoming glamour tie with Real Madrid will not avert their gaze from the prize of winning back the Premier League title.

Man Utd Giggs urges focus on league matters

The Red Devils winger admits it would be easy to get distracted by the last-16 Champions League clash against Jose Mourinho’s men next month.

We’re not thinking about the Madrid game.

Ryan Giggs

But the 39-year-old is experienced enough to know the pit-falls of looking too far ahead and the damage that that can do in the immediacy.

Giggs may have to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench at Old Trafford tonight when United host an ever-improving Southampton.

The hosts are 1/4 to win the game and 9/1 to secure a 3-1 victory, while they are 1/1 to keep a clean sheet.

Don’t forget, if the match finishes 0-0, bet365 will refund all pre-match Correct Score, Half-Time/Full-Time and Scorecast bets with our fantastic Bore Draw Money Back offer.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s team could once again extend their gap at the top of the table to seven points with a victory, after neighbours Manchester City could only manage a draw at Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening.

And Giggs insists: “We’re not thinking about the Madrid game. Everyone was excited when the draw was made, but you just can’t look too far ahead.

“You want to perform in games like that and be in good form going into them. That is what we intend to do and the best way of achieving that is to concentrate on the opponents immediately ahead.”

Robin van Persie, who sat out the weekend FA Cup win over Fulham, is expected to return and will be looking to score for a sixth successive league game.

Man Utd v Real Madrid – Ronaldo backs Real to take United scalp

Man Utd v Real Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Real Madrid to see off his former club Manchester United, when the Spanish giants continue their bid for a record tenth European crown.

Man Utd v Real Madrid - Ronaldo backs Real to take United scalp

The pair meet in the last 16 of the Champions League, with Real hoping to make up for a faltering league campaign by mounting a challenge in Europe, with their ninth title having come just over a decade ago.

If we play the way we are capable of, we can beat them.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Last season Real lost out on penalties to Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and Ronaldo is desperate to do better this term, starting by disposing of United.

“Every Madridista wants that tenth European Cup – we are more than aware of that,” Ronaldo told FIFA.com. “Last season we fell just short, which was very frustrating.

“The fact we face Manchester United next makes it more difficult. It is not going to be easy and I reckon the odds are about 50-50, but I am still very confident.”

“If we play the way we are capable of, we can beat them.”

Real and United have met in two previous ties in the Champions League era, with the Spaniards coming out on top in both 1999-2000 and 2002-03.

Madrid are 4/1 to win the Champions League this season, with United 14/1and Barcelona 2/1.

Leonardo drops Ronaldo hint

Leonardo said “anything is possible” when asked if Paris Saint-Germain could be tempted to make a move for Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Leonardo drops Ronaldo hint

The 27-year-old, who has a contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu until June 2015, raised doubts about his future in the Spanish capital earlier this season when he suggested he was “sad”.

A 16-point gap between Los Blancos and bitter rivals Barcelona at the top of the table, coupled by reports that under-fire coach Jose Mourinho may also look to quit the La Liga champions, has heightened speculation that the Portugal flyer will reject a new contract offer.

Real Madrid can be backed at 20/1 in the La Liga outright betting and 4/1 to win this season’s Champions League.

Club director Leonardo said PSG, locked on 38 points with Lyon and Marseille at the top in Ligue 1, would be one of only a small handful of clubs in a position to pursue his signature.

“Cristiano Ronaldo? Paris Saint-Germain have become a club where anything is possible,” Leonardo was quoted as saying by L’Equipe.

“However, he still has an ongoing contract with Real Madrid and we have to realise that he will not leave Madrid for just any club.

“When we are discussing a possible transfer for a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, there are only four or five clubs that can be taken into consideration. Paris Saint-Germain are one of those clubs …”

New Real deal for Mourinho

New Real deal for MourinhoJose Mourinho has signed a new deal extension with Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has ended speculation linking him with a return to Chelsea by signing a new contract to keep him at Real Madrid until summer 2016.

The 49-year-old Portuguese tactician still had two years remaining on the four-year deal he signed when he took over at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010.

However, after guiding the club to the Copa del Rey crown in his first season, it appears Mourinho has been rewarded for successfully securing Real Madrid their first Primera Division title since 2008 ahead of rivals Barcelona this past season.

A statement on the Madrid website read: “Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho have reached an agreement to extend the coach’s contract with the club until June 30, 2016.”

The target for Mourinho, who has already become the first coach to win the league in Spain, England and Italy, will be to win the Champions League with a third different club following his success with FC Porto and Inter Milan in 2004 and 2010 respectively.

Real Madrid are 4/1 to win the Champions League in 2012/13, while holders Chelsea are 14/1 and Barcelona can be backed at 7/2.

Don’t forget all of the fantastic markets we have to offer, including In-Play betting, can be accessed on your mobile phone with the new and improved Mobile at bet365

The news also removes any possibility that Mourinho will make an emotional return to Stamford Bridge after reports suggested he could be lined up as Andre Villas-Boas’ permanent successor this summer, despite interim coach Roberto di Matteo leading Chelsea to Champions League and FA Cup glory.
