Champions League favourites Barcelona and Real Madrid have avoided each other in the quarter-final draw and the Spanish giants are now 2/1 to lock horns in the final at Wembley.

bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: “Both sides have been cut slightly on the back of the draw and a meeting at Wembley between the two Spanish giants now looks a real possibility.”

Barcelona must beat Paris St Germain in the last eight of the Champions League if they are to have a chance of winning the trophy for a third time in five seasons.

The runaway La Liga leaders produced a dramatic comeback to knock AC Milan out earlier this week, winning the second leg 4-0 after being beaten 2-0 at the San Siro.

Barcelona have won the competition on four occasions and can be backed at 6/4 to make it five this season while PSG, conquerors of Valencia in the round of 16, have never reached the final of European football’s premier competition before.

Last season’s beaten finalists Bayern Munich, 9/2 to go one better this season, have been handed a mouthwatering last-eight encounter with Juventus.

The Serie A leaders had little difficulty thrashing Celtic in the last round and are 14/1 to win the Champions League for the first time since 1996 and for the third time in their history.

Surprise package Malaga face a Borussia Dortmund side that has been impressive in seeing off the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester City this season.

Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid team will be confident of reaching the semi-finals after being paired with Turkish side Galatasaray.

Real edged past Manchester United in the round of 16 and are available at 9/4 to win the competition for a record tenth time. However, they have not clinched the Champions League since 2002.

For the first time since 1996 there are no representatives from the Premier League in the last eight.

The Manchester City skipper admits Roberto Mancini’s men have it all to do if they are to somehow qualify for the next stages of the competition.

The Blues currently sit bottom of Group D on a solitary point, having lost against both Real Madrid and Ajax and earning a last-minute draw against current leaders Borussia Dortmund.

City host Ajax next week at the Etihad Stadium and then the Spanish champions shortly after, before rounding off the group with a visit to Germany in early December.

Incredibly, victories in all three of those games would see them go through on ten points and Kompany is of the belief anything is still possible after last season’s incredible ending to the domestic title race.

The Belgian international defender insists: “Last season we were eight points down with six games to go, the change in attitude was that we said to ourselves, ‘Okay, we’re not doing it for the points any more, or to win the league, we are doing it for our own pride, because we know we are better than what we have shown for the last couple weeks’.

“It’s the same now. It’s not about winning three games to get through, but about showing to ourselves that we belong there, and then we will see what happens.”
