Brilliant Bradley Wiggins built on last month’s success at the Tour de France by winning the gold medal in the individual time trial at the London Olympics.

Wonderful Bradley Wiggins wins again

World champion Tony Martin of Germany was second while Great Britain’s Chris Froome picked up the bronze medal after finishing third.

Wiggins has now won seven medals, more than any other British Olympian, since breaking his duck by picking up a bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, with today’s being his fourth gold.

The 32-year-old dominated the 44km route around Hampton Court and now has one more medal than the former rower Sir Steve Redgrave.

In 2004 in Athens, Wiggins became the first British athlete in 40 years to win three medals at one Olympics and four years ago in Beijing he won the individual pursuit and team pursuit.

GB are 9/2 to win the men’s track team sprint while Germany can be backed at 23/20 and France at 6/4.
